Of course I bought it as soon as it came out.
Elijah keeps telling me I’ll score better if I quit singing along while I’m trying to play. But he doesn’t understand, I have to sing along with some of these songs. In fact it’s my new goal in life to be able to get 100% while singing along w/ “The Warrior.” Bang bang!
I was playing (and singing) Oingo Boingo’s “Only a Lad” and asked Elijah if he knew who Danny Elfman was. He said yeah, he does the music for the Simpsons. I told him he was also the singer in Oingo Boingo, and Elijah was so excited about that he had to find his friend that lives in the building next door to inform him.
It seems weird to me that my kids know Danny Elfman as a guy who does cool music for tv shows and movies. I always think of him as that crazy guy from that cool band, Oingo Boingo, who carved a brilliant career for himself in soundtracks.
(I saw Oingo Boingo in the 80s. Such a fun show.)
You likely already know that Tom is a HUGE Oingo Boingo fan. He owns like all of their CD’s or close to it.
Yeah. I always loved them too. I have at least one Boingo album too.
it’s funny that he only knew him from movies and the simpsons. of course elfman only did the theme song for the simpsons all the rest was done by someone else. you make it sound like you only saw oingo boingo once. we saw them at least twice and i believe we saw danny elfman solo once too.
I hate it that I can’t remember shows! I thought maybe I’d seen OB twice but then I thought I was misremembering. Seeing Elfman solo sounds right but I seriously cannot recall.
Yes, I can’t seem to “keep up” with Danny Elfman, either. Or the guys from DEVO, now they’re doing stuff like Rug Rats.
Funny how Devo still manage to trip me out, no matter what they do.
I loved (still do) Danny Elfman/Oingo. It tripped me out when he started making it big with the soundtracks, but hey, more power to him!
Yeah, how would you NOT sing along with that lineup? Even the stuff I hate would still have me lip-syncing along.
And how cool was it that Oingo Boingo was the party band in Rodney Dangerfield’s “Back to School”?! I’ll tell ya - too cool for school.
