If we had a yard…
…It would look like this.
In fact, when we had a yard, it was just like that. I mean, it was that. That was our yard.
Daniel dug it all by hand. With a shovel. It started out small…
and grew…

Nathaniel used to be quite the bmxer.

But that didn’t slow him down much. (I’m pretty sure he’s actually holding the leg that he didn’t hurt.)

- Daniel’s bike has two different types of wheels (mags/spokes).
- Nathaniel’s bike has two different color tires.
- Elijah’s bike is one of those bikes for 2 year olds without even a bike chain—but the training wheels have been removed.
- Elijah is NOT wearing socks.
- All of our neighbors, except the one with all the piles of junk, had lovely yards. (You think your kids get dirty?)
That is totally awesome! I want a backyard like that!

I love that yard! I think it would give my kids massive confidence if they had a yard like that it. Currently, our kids have turned all our backyard flower beds (and water feature pond thing) into a pirate’s treasure paradise, complete with their own garden planting. 5 years ago, I would have been mortified. Now, I think it’s perfect.
We lived in a small town then. Last time we went back for a visit, kids at the skate park still remembered us for our yard.

That might possibly be the coolest yard ever.
I love how they’re kicking back waiting for dad to “jump” them. That’s awesome.

It was the backyard. The front was pretty small. We had about a third of an acre, and most of it was the backyard.
