Awesome 80s: 1980
I’m gonna take the 80s a year at a time and post a sampling of stuff I have from each year.
In 1980 I was 10 years old. I didn’t discover these bands till at least a couple years later.

Yeah, I caught up with all these guys courtesy of MTV. And John Hughes’ movies. I would have loved to have seen an early U2 concert.
When I was 10, I listened to what my older brothers did: The Kinks, Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd. Which seems funny looking at my own 12 year old. I can’t imagine her having any interest in any of that.
Killing an Arab brings me right back to high school. I wonder how many kids read The Stranger just because of that song?
Good question. I don’t think I ever knew it was based on a book. I read the book after high school, but I don’t remember reading it because of that song. I think it was a friend talking about it that got me interested in it.
LA Daddy, I you should listen to the U2 song I posted. They’re so young.
i know you can’t add everything, but no echo and the bunnymen?
I only have two Echo songs. One is dated 1984 and the other doesn’t have a date.
