Classic picture #14: I’ve never caught a fish in my life.

Never stopped me from trying, though.
I’m Susan. 37, married for 19 years, with three kids. A Mormon housewife into doom metal. And this is my blog.

Never stopped me from trying, though.

I asked my husband what I should blog about. There was a pause. And then he said, “How much you love me.”
You’re probably thinking, “Aw. How cute.”
But what he means by that is, “Leave the computer and come snuggle with me.”
OK. You’re probably still thinking, “Aw. How cute.”
But I’m not by nature a snuggler. A hugger, a toucher. Ugh. But I’m married to one.
Our daughter’s a snuggler too. Daniel complained to her about how I’m not a snuggler. She said when she got married, she’d probably end up with a non-snuggler too, and then she’d be just like her dad. When Daniel told me this I said, “My sympathies will be with her husband.”

OK I think I have the comments issue sorted. They were being held for approval, but I think I’ve got it fixed now.
So how often do you buy new music? I was thinking about this the other day. I almost always buy a cd whenever I go to a show—they’re usually cheaper at shows ($10), and the money goes right in the band’s pocket. I used to go to an indie cd store right down the street when I could and load up on cheap used cds, but they’ve moved about 7 miles away.
So what’s the last album you bought?

I feel like it’s been awhile since I’ve been posting anything. Maybe just a false perception on my part—been super busy lately. But here are some random things.
Elijah, my 12yo: “Would it kill you if your pancreas exploded?”
Me: “It’d kill you if any of your organs exploded.”
My best friend from high school, that I’m still really good friends with now, is renting a house in Tucson for a week (she lives in Seattle) with her two daughters for vacation. She invited me to fly out for a couple days and stay with them. I think I’m going to do it! Plane tickets aren’t that expensive to Tucson from LA. And I know I’d have a blast going richter with my camera. Even if it is going to be in JULY. Is she insane? Arizona? July?
I asked my daughter Cat if she’d help Elijah comb his hair out, he’s wearing it really long but is not used to caring for long hair, and it was all tangled. I told him to be sure and put lots of detangler in it first. Nathaniel wanted to know how detangler works.
Daniel said, “It’s magic! There are microscopic elves in it,” making a motion like he was one of them, separating strands of hair.
This is my last week working fulltime in the office. I basically quit my job a couple weeks ago, unless my boss could work out a way for me to work from home. He looked into it and decided it wouldn’t be feasible, which I was expecting. It just isn’t, with the projects we have and the way things operate, for me to work fulltime from home. But he didn’t want to lose me so he offered to let me work from home for two months, coming in two days a week for half days, to help train my replacements, and to write up documentation on all the websites I’ve built and all the procedures for all the regular updates and other things I do. And, it turns out, there may be some new work coming in which I would be able to do from home.
Life is good!
Happy Easter everyone!
That reminds me. A freelance/new coworker said happy Easter before leaving for the weekend, and I had to laugh, because she was saying it to a Jewish guy and a Korean.

Best live band going. It was at the Belly Up in San Diego, a venue I’ve heard a lot about but never been to. Pretty cool place.
I’ll probably post a full review over at Kulturblog.com. Here’s some pics:
Set list (which they didn’t quite stick to, and the show ended with Pavement Tune, must’ve run out of time for the rest):
I also recorded the show with a tiny little crappy digital voice recorder. It came out surprisingly well. Not great, but not as bad as I thought it would. I’ll post a couple songs to the radio.blog:
What Happens When the Heart Just Stops - (goes into) Caravan (by Van Morrison)
Lay Me Down - (goes into) Funeral Home (by Daniel Johnston)

Welcome to its new home. Update your bookmarks. I managed to import all of my old blog posts, but none of the comments. Some of the blog posts might be screwed up, though, so if you spot anything funky can you let me know? Either in a comment or via email.
I tried changing to a different theme but couldn’t find anything I liked better than this one. I might mess with it again in a few weeks when I have more time.
If it seems like I’ve been quiet lately, it’s cuz I’ve been really busy, plus working on getting my blog moved.
I went to the HB pier at sunset the other day, here are a couple pics.

I wasn’t expecting it to be, either. I posted a review at kulturblog.com.
I also taped the show. I wasn’t planning on it. I just happened to have a voice digital recorder in my bag. When I was waiting for them to come on, I realized I should just turn it on and see what happens. It’s very low quality—the thing only saves files as Windows Media at 96kbps, but it’s good enough that I can relive all the excitement!
I’m on such a Hoodoo Gurus kick now.
